March Adventures

March is always a busy month for me!!!

At the beginning of the month, the replica ships for the Pinta and Nina came to our area. We decided to take a ride on the motorcycle and go check them out. Here are some pictures of the boats. They weren't as big as I thought they would be.

Later in the month we went to the local Winery & Vineyard for their Chillin Vibes in the Vineyard. We had a blast. I just love their wine.

There was a little alligator in the pond. The kids kept feeding him the fish food.

I just loved this tiki torch.

The band was Anna & Will, they were amazing! I loved her voice and choices of songs.

There was a hoop fire dancer there.

Here are my sunsets for the month:

Last week we also celebrated my Birthday and our trip to the Zoo. You can read about that here!

Also my nephew and his fiancée celebrated their engagement just this past weekend. A big Congratulations to them!

This was the sun setting at their party!!!

I know I have been quiet on here this last month. I am still working on the birthday present for my cousin's daughter. Her birthday is next weekend so look for me to show that off in a couple of weeks. Then hopefully I will be able to get back to my LifeBook lessons.

Hope everybody had a wonderful March!!!

Birthday and the Brevard Zoo

This past week was my birthday!

We didn't do to much on the day of my birthday. I had to work. After work my sister made it down from Tennessee for her son's engagement party this weekend. When I got home the table was full of presents from both the boyfriend and my sister. I opened my sisters first, she got me a cute solar light for my yard, some more ginger snaps jewelry for a necklace she got me before, some candy and a Sister Mug. I then open the boyfriend's gift, and he got me a Paper Shredder. It was pretty funny because I kept complaining I needed one but never got it for myself. So he decided to get it for me, but got one of the really nice ones that shreds not only paper but cds also. I was super excited about it, I think I have almost filled the container already. We then went to Hokkaido and sat at the hibachi grill. It was a nice dinner with the boyfriend, my sister and one of our friends. We decided to head to my aunt's house to hang out for a bit.

The next day was a Friday and I took the day off to spend with my sister. We went and did a bunch of shopping.

On Saturday the boyfriend took me to the Brevard Zoo. I have been really wanting to go check out this zoo for awhile now. It was a wonderful relaxing day.

Here are some photos from the day:

A Red Macaw sitting so pretty on his perch.

Meerkats! They just opened this exhibit at this zoo. They are so stinking cute.

This is a Dik-Dik, a small antelope. He was in the enclosure with the meerkats.

White Rhinoceros, most of the animals were just chillin most the day.

Baby Giraffe!

Momma with her baby walking around. They were pretty spooked because of all the wind and weather.

This bird was so pretty. He let me get pretty close to him.

Kangaroo just chillin.

Warty hog. I just loved his hair!

Cassowary. This bird looked so prehistoric to us. They say it is one of the most dangerous birds.

Feeding nectar to the Lorikeets.

Another Lorikeet.

Emu.
Black Swans. They were so beautiful.

These are Siamang. They were just hanging around on their rope.

Bald Eagles are just so magnificent.

Vulture!

River Otter.

The River Otter kept going in the water and then would come up and stand up, then go back to the water.

American Alligator. These are common to see in lakes here in Florida.

This Jaguar was so beautiful and I loved that he did a little pose for me.

This Giant Anteater was walking around his enclosure. I loved his movement. He kind of stomped when he walked.

This is a King Vulture, the colors on his head was so brilliant.

Spider Monkeys!

We sat and watched the Spider Monkeys play for a bit. They were having so much fun.

This is a Coati. It kind looks like a raccoon.

A Capybara and her babies.

A Barn Owl

A Great Horned Owl

This is a Tapir.
We had such a great time! We were thinking about doing the zip lining but after walking around and watching other people do it, we realized that we were not dressed properly for it. Maybe we will go back soon and just do the zip lining.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I want to wish everybody a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The quote is one of my favorites. There was a show on NBC back in 2007 called The Black Donnelly's and this quote came up at the beginning of the show. It has stayed with me ever since. I looked up the origin of the quote and it was said by Daniel Patrick Moynihan (a politician) as a reaction to the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

I was inspired with the art by one of my lessons in LifeBook. This was a warm up lesson for Week 6.

Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap

I joined the Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap. I am so excited about this. Signup has closed down for this year but look out for next years swap. I just had to print 5 postcards with my art on them and write a note to the person who is going to receive it. Then send the postcards with stamps and self addressed labels. She swaps the cards after March 15th and sends you 6 postcards back from different artists. I just love the idea of sharing your artwork with other artists.

Here is a picture of my swap materials. I plan to do another blog post on the cards I receive when I get them.

February Adventures

February has been another busy month. Almost so busy I was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. Work has been crazy busy. We are also still working on fixing up the back porch. I plan to show that off when it is done. I am hoping for the end of March.

At the beginning of the month we took a trip up to Titusville and went to the Kennedy Space Center. We had a great time although it didn't seem as big as what I remembered when I was a kid. It was a rainy and chilly day.

This was the front entrance as we were getting our tickets.

They call this the Rocket Garden.

The place we had the most fun was the Atlantis Building. We went through a little movie explaining how the shuttle program was started. Then we moved into another room were they showed a launch.

We then walked into a room where the Atlantis Shuttle was hanging. It was awesome to see it. I really miss seeing the launches. They also had places in this building where you could see inside the shuttle cockpit. There were also some games to simulate working on the International Space Station.

They also had a replica of the Hubble Telescope and this suit hanging from the ceiling. There was also a Shuttle Launch Experience. This was pretty neat to kind of feel what the astronauts go through during a launch.

Overall we had a really nice day!

This little guy stuck his head out of the bushes as we walked by to go do some shopping!

Here are my sunsets for the month! The first one was a picture of a pretty bad storm that was getting ready to hit us.

Toward the end of the month there was a Rocket Launch. I tried to get a picture but they didn't come out really great. I need to invest in a tripod. Plus the launch was about 90 miles north of us.

I have fallen so behind on my LifeBook class. I was only able to finish one lesson for the month.

This is my week 5 lesson. An idea had popped in my head for this one so I took my time doing it.

I did start on the Week 6 lesson, but it turned into something I want to share for St. Patrick's Day so look forward to that.

Also I am going to fall even further behind in LifeBook because I am working on a birthday present for my cousin's daughter. She asked me to paint her a heart for her birthday in April, back before Christmas. It took me a bit to come up with an idea for it. She was looking through my sketchbook and saw something I had sketched for my Sun A Day project. She really liked it. I didn't want to do the same thing so I came up with a similar concept but changed up the design. Here is the sketch for that. Look for a post on the progress of the painting for this.

That is it for February. I look forward to next month because it is my birthday month.
