September Adventures

Oh my goodness! Where did September go? Another month that went by so fast, looking back it is a blur. I have been so busy planning for Halloween and a little party I am having soon. It seems like that is all that is going on in my head. I have a couple of craft projects in the works and don't want to share photos of those until the party is over. I also have a couple of Halloween themed crafts going on that I plan on sharing when I complete them. I tend to start getting excited for Halloween towards the end of August and it goes on until it is over, then I look forward to all the sales.

I started a Halloween Playlist last year on my YouTube channel and have been adding to it quite a bit this year. I am up to 138 songs on the list. If you get a chance check it out and let me know if I am missing anything.

Come visit me on my Facebook page, I am sharing one song a day counting down to Halloween. Also I tend to share more work in progress pictures on Facebook as I am working on them.

I was able to finally finish another lesson in my LifeBook class. I am way behind with these lessons that I just decided I will finish them as I get a chance to.

I was trying to grow my hair out and grow out the bangs, but the more it grew out the more I hated it and thought it just looked drab. About a week ago I had my cousin cut it and this is the result. I feel like the bangs and choppy layers look best on me.

Remember that porcelain skull I purchased last month. Here is the first step in to what I have planned for it. I really like how it came out. I can't wait to finish it and show you what I have planned next for it.

It has been doing nothing but raining here in Florida. I haven't had a good day to go out and take some photos to complete my photography exercises. There also haven't been any really good sunsets this month. The other morning I noticed the sunrise was beautiful. Here is a picture of that:

I have some exciting things planned for October and can't wait to show everybody!

LifeBook 2014 ~ Week 7 ~ Pop Up Positives

Whew! This one was tough and it took me long enough. Although I really did take my time with it to get it the way I wanted. I don't know what it is but as soon as Summer rolls around I lose my motivation to paint. Now that Fall is closing in I am getting that motivation back and hopefully will be able to finish these up much quicker. This one was a lot of fun, figuring out how the pop ups were going to work.

I thought I would show some progress photos to show how it came along:

August Adventures

Wow August went by so fast. I have actually started creating a bit of art finally. I still wish I had more time to work on my projects. I'm not sure if you noticed but I started a new blog post called Photography Adventures. I mentioned I bought a new camera and I thought I would share those adventures in learning how to use a dSLR in manual mode. You can see my first two posts here and here

Every year I look forward to when the stores start selling Halloween decorations. Yankee Candle is one of my favorites. Here is a picture of my first Halloween purchase of this year.

I bought this ceramic skull from Michaels. I have big plans for it. I actually have a couple crafty Halloween projects I am going to be working on.

I am finally getting back into working on my LifeBook lessons. I have fallen so behind on these. I do plan on finishing them though.

Last but not least my sunset photos of the month. I really enjoy taking photos of the sunsetting. I hope your not tired of seeing them.

Lots to come in the next month.

Photography Adventures

The next chapter of the Digital Photography Basics book by Kat Eye Studio, is about exploring Exposure. The exercise had us play with moving the exposures up and down and then also learning about bracketing the exposures. Here are some of my favorite photos from this exercise.

This first set of photos, I was playing with the bracketing function with the camera. Basically you end up taking 3 photos and the camera changes the exposure for each one as it is taken.

These sunset photos I did the same thing with the bracketing.

I started just manually playing with the exposure settings.

I looked over and really liked the way the light was reflecting on the grass and the shadows of the trees.

I then noticed how the light was shining on the house and walked up and saw it shining through the mango trees. I really love the way these photos came out. They are my favorites from the photo shoot.

I really like how the light from the sun is peeking through the tree and lighting up the grass to make it look like it is glowing.

In these high contrast situations I am realizing I really like them being a bit underexposed.
